Saratoga Harness Racing Recap – Tuesday 6/23
Aaron Byron piloted four winners on the Tuesday card at Saratoga Casino Hotel. The 41-year-old Byron became a local regular last season and has been a force in the sulky. On Tuesday, Byron guided Numero Dix (Muscle Mass) to victory in the $17,000 “Pop Up Final”. Jared Bothwell owns and trains the four-year-old trotter who came in off a win and a pair of seconds in his previous three starts when he moved aggressively to the lead on Tuesday for Byron. One of a trio of 5-2 shots in the race, Numero Dix cruised through a first half of 59.1 before being met with the challenge of co-favorite Gold Dealer (Wally Hennessey) in the stretch and holding him off to score in a career-best 1:58.1. Byron piloted a trio of winners for trainer Melissa Beckwith on the card as Poppa Joe prevailed early on the matinee program while local first-timers Starfish and Twin B Cabo each scored victories in their Spa debuts. Saratoga Harness Racing Recap – Monday 6/22
Wolfpack Zach continues to pile up the accolades in what has been his breakout season at Saratoga Casino Hotel. Joel Flanders trains the four year old trotter who climbed the class ranks all the way to the top after an early season barrage of victories at the Spa. Wolfpack Zach made his debut in the Open Trot in late May winning in his first try against the track’s top high-steppers just one start removed from posting 1:54.1 score, the fastest mile for any trotter in the 2026 campaign at the Spa. Jacob Cutting has been the regular driver for Wolfpack Zach who came into Monday afternoon’s feature with eleven wins on the year. Despite drawing the outside post for his try in the $18,000 Open, Wolfpack Zach went off as the 8-5 betting favorite. The up-and-coming star left just a bit at the start of the mile but was relegated to a closer’s role in a race that saw first-half fractions of 27.1 and 57.1 be posted by veteran Big Box Hanover (Billy Dobson). No stranger to the local Open, Big Box Hanover tried to finish the job but was confronted in the stretch by pocket-sitter Dealin With Dewey (Wally Hennessey) and Wolfpack Zach who wound up getting the best of the Open group trotting past to win in 1:55.2 over a track labeled ‘sloppy.’ Now a winner of twelve races in sixteen seasonal tries, Wolfpack Zach is the winningest horse in ’26 at Saratoga in addition to being the owner of the fastest time posted this year by a trotter. Dealin With Dewey was the runner-up on Monday while Big Box Hanover had to settle for third.

Trainer Kyle Spagnola enjoyed his best day of the season on Saturday at Saratoga Casino Hotel. The veteran Spa conditioner won the Saturday feature with Prairie Rocknroll and went on to record a hat trick on the card. Prairie Rocknroll won the $18,000 Open Pace for the third time this season when he completed a wire-to-wire score in 1:54.2. After being used hard to make it to the top in a first quarter of 26.4, Prairie Rocknroll had to hold off a late charge from rival Mr McLaren N (Larry Stalbum) to score his fourth win of the season and third in the Open. Billy Dobson sat behind Prairie Rocknroll during his Saturday score. Dobson also guided Spagnola trainees Rock Solid Express and Jimmy Jets to victories on the matinee card. Claiming pacer Jimmy Jets set a new lifetime mark when he parlayed his pocket ride to a 1:55.3 win. Spagnola’s Rock Solid Express went coast-to-coast in a $13,000 conditional race for pacers when the six-year-old registered his third win of the year stopping the timer in 1:53.2 in a mild upset. Spagnola, whose 2026 campaign got off to a bit of a slow start, has been in the midst of a hot streak in recent weeks led by his stable star Prairie Rocknroll.

It was a big Monday afternoon at Saratoga Casino Hotel for trainer Gary Levine and driver Jimmy Devaux as that tandem teamed up for three victories on the trotting-filled card. Devaux has been the regular driver for the Levine Stable for several years now and on Monday that dynamic duo made three trips to the winner’s circle. Jeffery J got a bit tired in the stretch but proved best to complete the Levine/Devaux hat trick when he completed a 1:58.4 wire-to-wire score. Devaux and Levine scored wins earlier in the card with Phantom Tom and young trotter Willie Boy who moved his record to two-for-two since joining the Levine stable just a few weeks ago. Saratoga Harness Racing Recap Wednesday 6/10
Wolfpack Zach is the winningest horse thus far this season at Saratoga Casino Hotel and on Wednesday afternoon, the rising star added another victory to his tally. Trained by Joel Flanders, the four year old Wolfpack Zach began his season competing against younger trotters at the Spa and after an early winning spree has climbed the ladder all the way up into the Open. Wolfpack Zach prevailed in his debut in the Open on May 25th when he went coast-to-coast in 1:54.1, the fastest trotting mile of the year at Saratoga. Last week, the up-and-comer made a break as the favorite in the $18,000 Open Trot but avenged on Wednesday when he scored on the front-end in 1:54.2 with Jacob Cutting at the controls. Picture of consistency But Why (Jimmy Devaux) came from well off the pace to finish second in the feature while last week’s Open winner Spaaaanzano (Kyle Swift) finished third. Wolfpack Zach’s Wednesday win was his eleventh on the season, more than any other horse in ‘26 at the Spa. He was the public’s 4-5 betting favorite in what was his second Open score of the campaign.
