Southwind Falcon & Ron Harp

Vernon Downs invader Southwind Falcon (Conway Hall) has made his presence felt at Saratoga Casino Hotel over the last few weeks and on Wednesday afternoon, the three year old trotter prevailed for the third consecutive start. Ron Harp trains and drives Southwind Falcon who took a big jump up in company into Wednesday’s $9,000 co-feature for New York sired trotters. A strong closer, Southwind Falcon once again came from well off the pace as he made a backstretch blitz heading to three-quarters before circling the field to prevail in 1:58.1. Southwind Falcon’s seventh victory of the year came in mild upset fashion as he paid $10.20 to win. The other co-features were won by Okay (Conway Hall), who upset at odds of 11-1 for trainer-driver Claude Huckabone Jr., and Lucky June Bug (Lucky Chucky), who made good as his race’s odds-on favorite to extend his win streak to five. Frank Coppola Jr. piloted the Chip Zombick Jr- trained three year old to his Wednesday score which was the fastest among the co-feature winners as he romped in 1:57.2.

Live racing continues on Thursday afternoon at Saratoga with a 12 Noon first post.
