Saratoga Harness Racing Recap – Wednesday 4/8

Youngster Loan Cannon (Captaintreacherous) continued the red hot streak he began a few weeks ago at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Wednesday when the three year old went coast-to-coast to record his third consecutive victory. Dale Lawton trains Loan Cannon who showed promise as a two year old last year but remained a maiden when his 2026 campaign kicked off last month. Chris Long has been piloting Loan Cannon in the early stages of his sophomore season and guided the youngster to back-to-back jacks in the non-winners of one competition before stepping up in company for Wednesday’s try. Long wasted little time moving the race’s 1-5 betting favorite out to the front-end and from there, Loan Cannon never faced an anxious moment pacing a first-half in 1:00 before cruising through a final lap in 57.4 en route to his third straight score. Loan Cannon’s win came in a $9,000 pacing event on Wednesday and helped continue a strong start to the season for his trainer Dale Lawton who co-owns the three year old with Chris Lawton.

Live racing resumes on Saturday at Saratoga and will feature a Pick Five carryover of $3,829 in the matinee’s first race. There will be a Pick Four carryover of $1,087 as well, a wager that begins in the second race on the card. First post time is set for 12pm.
