Saratoga Casino Hotel to Feature 16th Annual Joe Gerrity Jr. Memorial Pace

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (July 17) – Saratoga Casino Hotel will host its premier racing event of the season on Saturday, July 19: the 16th Annual Joe Gerrity Jr. Memorial Pace. Some of the nation’s top pacers, trainers, and drivers will compete for a purse of $250,000.

The evening’s card will also include four New York Sire Stakes races featuring two-year-old pacing colts, bringing total purses for the night to over half a million dollars.

This year’s Gerrity Pace has drawn a full field of eight contenders, including last year’s winner, Coaches Corner, who will face the challenge of starting from post 8 in pursuit of a repeat victory. Desperate Man, who has earned $1.6 million in his career, has been named the betting favorite and will race from post 4.

“Desperate Man is the class of this field and definitely the horse to beat,” Race Secretary, Peter Iovino, said. “The other contenders will need some racing luck to prove the oddsmakers wrong.”

Post time for the first race on Saturday is 6:45 p.m. Guests can enjoy fare from Ted’s Fish Fry and Winner’s Ice Cream trucks, which will be on-site throughout the evening. Parking and admission are free.

SaratogaBets horseplayers that visit Saratoga Casino Hotel on Gerrity Night (and every Saturday throughout 2025) will have the opportunity to earn an additional 10% bonus on all winning Saratoga Harness wagers placed through a self-service terminal.
