Saratoga Casino Hotel Offers ‘Hands for Hope’ to Clean Up High Rock Park’s 9/11 Memorial

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (May 23, 2017) –On Sunday, May 21, Saratoga Casino Hotel’s community outreach team, ‘Hands For Hope,’ joined Dottie Pepper and Rebuilding Together Saratoga County to clean up the 9/11 Memorial Site at High Rock Park in downtown Saratoga Springs. A handful of casino team members were present to assist with the afternoon cleanup.

Former LPGA Champion and Saratoga native Dottie Pepper spearheaded this project four years ago. With assistance from Rebuilding Together Saratoga County and the casino’s ‘Hands For Hope’ team, Pepper and over 30 volunteers did some spring cleaning that included raking, cutting down vines and planting new flowers around the Memorial at High Rock Park, which features actual steel taken from the World Trade Center site after 9/11.

“Sunday was a wonderful opportunity for our ‘Hands for Hope’ team to assist with the cleanup of one of Saratoga’s most revered Memorial sites,” said Skip Carlson, Vice President of External Affairs at Saratoga Casino Hotel. “We sincerely appreciate all the hard work from Rebuilding Together Saratoga and Dottie Pepper for organizing this event.”

“We’re very grateful for the help we received from the ‘Hands For Hope’ team for this cleanup,” said Michelle Larkin, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Saratoga County. “We look forward to working with Dottie Pepper every spring and fall at the 9/11 Memorial site and to continue working with the casino on future projects across our community.”

‘Hands For Hope’ was created in the spring of 2016 to encourage Saratoga Casino Hotel employees to get involved in local causes across the Capital Region. Previous events included a site cleanup at AIM Services in Saratoga, and delivering supplies to Saratoga’s ‘Code Blue’ Henry Street location before the winter season. The next ‘Hands For Hope’ event will assist the Franklin Community Center with a picnic benefiting their ‘Project Lift’ program. The picnic is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14 at Saratoga Springs State Park.
