Saratoga Casino Hotel Named Premier Sponsor and Host Site of the 12th Annual Saratoga Lions Duathlon
SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (May 19, 2016)- For the 5th year in a row, Saratoga Casino Hotel has been named the premier sponsor and host site of the 12th Annual Saratoga Lions Duathlon, an event run by the Saratoga Springs Lions Club each May. The continued partnership was announced yesterday as Saratoga Casino Hotel presented the Saratoga Lions Club Foundation with $2,500 in support of the event and the charitable mission of the Lions Club.
“We are grateful to Saratoga Casino Hotel for their generous support of the Duathlon over the years,” said Matt Jones, President of the Saratoga Springs Lions Club Foundation. “The continued support we have received from Saratoga Casino Hotel has allowed us to make the race one of the premier sporting competitions in the Capital District.”
This year’s Saratoga Lions Duathlon will be held at 8 A.M. on Sunday, May 29 at Saratoga Casino Hotel. Race participants will tackle a 5K run, followed by a 30K bike ride, and finishing with another 5K run. For the first time in 12 years, this year’s race will be officially sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Also new for this year is the ‘Honor A Veteran’ initiative which will allow for duathlon participants and spectators to sponsor a veteran or group of veterans on the race day. A flag tour display will be prominently featured at the duathlon in honor of all the sponsored veterans.
Participants can be individuals or teams of two to three. Area businesses can also participate with a three-person team in the Corporate and Small Business Team Challenge category.

100% of all duathlon proceeds go towards the Lions’ mission of benefiting sight and hearing conservation, fighting diabetes and supporting youth related programs in the community.
