Saratoga Casino Hotel to Host Blood Drive with the American Red Cross during National Blood Shortage

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (Tuesday, July 18, 2017) – Saratoga Casino Hotel is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a Blood Drive on Monday, July 24. Members of the local community are urged to join dozens of Saratoga Casino Hotel team members to give blood on Monday, July 24 from noon to 6pm inside the hotel ballroom.

The blood drive comes following an emergency call from the Red Cross for donors to give now. They are currently experiencing a severe summer blood shortage, and need additional supplies so patients can continue receiving the lifesaving treatments they need. Right now, blood products are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in.

“There is a serious need for blood and platelet donors immediately,” remarked Patty Corvaia, Communications Manager for the New York – Penn Blood Services Region. “Donations are needed now to meet the needs of hospital patients and in the coming days and weeks. If you’ve ever considered giving blood and helping to save lives, now is the time to do it.”

To date, Saratoga Casino Hotel has collected over 1,000 blood donations at their biannual blood drives. The collections have gone on to directly help over 3,000 patients in need.

“We’re thankful for the tremendous generosity shown by our team members and local community during our blood drives,” said Tom Wiedmayer, General Manager at Saratoga Casino Hotel. “The Red Cross needs our help now, and we consider ourselves lucky to be in the position to assist them during this supply shortage.”

All presenting donors at this year’s Blood Drive will receive a Free Red Cross T-Shirt and a $10 voucher to Perks Café, located in the hotel lobby. Donors are encouraged to make an appointment prior to the July 24th Blood Drive. To schedule a time, call 518-581-5774 or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
