Saratoga Casino Hotel Donates $15,000 to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York (October 5, 2017) – On Wednesday October 4, Saratoga Casino Hotel presented a $15,000 donation to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. The donation came off funds raised from the casino’s All-Star Sports Festival on Saturday, September 23.

The All-Star Sports Festival brought over a dozen revered former athletes from the MLB, NFL and Horse Racing. Attendees included Super Bowl champion Lawrence Taylor, World Series champion Wade Boggs and Triple Crown winning jockey Steve Cauthen. The athletes participated in a full day of activities including autograph signings, a celebrity softball game and a home run derby featuring Jose Canseco.

A portion of all tickets sold to the event, as well as the proceeds raised from Canseco’s home run derby, were donated to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region.

“On average, it costs us about $80 a day for every guest we welcome to the Ronald McDonald House,” said Jeff Yule, Executive Director. “We’re very grateful for donations like these which allow us to keep opening our hearts and our doors to these deserving families.”

Serving counties across the Capital Region, The Ronald McDonald House offers families of critically ill children comfort and support during times of hardship. Executive Director Jeff Yule estimates that the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region can host an upwards of 25 families at a time.

“The Ronald McDonald House seemed like an obvious choice for us when it came time to select a charity to support with this event,” said Skip Carlson, Vice President of External Affairs for Saratoga Casino Hotel. “We’ve been longtime supporters of theirs and we have a tremendous admiration for the remarkable work they do in our community.”
