Hall of Famer Wally Hennessey has been on a tear since returning to Saratoga Casino Hotel last month. The veteran reinsman, who on Sunday afternoon participated in the annual Hall of Fame Trot at Goshen Historic Track, dominated the action on Tuesday afternoon’s card at the Spa. Hennessey piled up the wins on the holiday matinee program and wound up securing five victories on the ten race card. Sweeping the early pick three, Hennessey won for the fourth time on the day while sitting behind Optimist Blue Chip (Deweycheatumnhowe) in the $9,300 feature for New York sired trotters. The Buzzy Sholty trainee never had an anxious moment and stopped the timer in a career best 1:55.3 on Tuesday. It was the fifth win in seven seasonal tries for the three year old highstepper. Wally wrapped up his afternoon by scoring behind Crown Affair, another sophomore trotter, this one trained by Wally’s brother Dan Hennessey. Crown Affair’s victory was his third consecutive and completed a five-win afternoon for the Hall of Fame driver.
Live racing resumes on Friday night at Saratoga with a 6:45pm first post.
