Platinum As won the Open Trot for the sixth time this season at Saratoga Casino Hotel when on Monday, the Melissa Beckwith trainee scored in the $18,000 feature. Platinum As came into the race off a break in last week’s Open after winning the top race for trotters the previous week. Chris Long pilots the Beckwith-trained high-stepper who moved first-over in the Monday feature in a race whose first half went in just 58 seconds. Platinum As struck gold after he surged past the leader while serving as the cover for the favored Spaaaanzano (Kyle Swift) who drew post eight for his attempt at repeating in the Open. Platinum As cleared the lead just past the three-quarter pole and opened up what turned out to be an insurmountable lead before hanging on to win by a half-length in a mile clocked in 1:56 over a track labeled ‘good.’ Platinum As’s win was his sixth in the Open and seventh of the year overall. With the earnings from the Monday score, the eight-year-old moved over the $100,000 mark in 2026. Spaaaazano finished second in the Open while Ramborain (Dan Daley) earned the show spot. Platinum As went off at odds of 9-2. The Beckwith stable scored a Monday double when Unhinged (Aaron Byron) prevailed for the third consecutive week.
Live racing resumes on Saturday with a matinee that starts at 12pm. There are carryovers in the early Pick Five and Pick Four. The Pick Five that begins in race one has a carryover of $2,942 while the Pick Four that starts in race two has a $903 carryover.
