Cantteachfast (Deweycheatumnhowe) stayed red hot on a cold day on Wednesday at Saratoga Casino Hotel. Laurie Tranowicz owns and trains the three year old filly who scored an impressive victory in the afternoon’s $15,000 feature for young trotters. Jacob Cutting has piloted Cantteachfast since her tear started in October. Following a maiden victory that came from post eight at odds of 11-1 on October 6th, the three year old high-stepper has seemed to really figure things out. Cantteachfast owned four wins and a second in her five starts that led up to Wednesday’s tilt that saw her as the 9-5 second-choice in the wagering. The filly made it to the lead but yielded to the favored Six And Stones (Brett Beckwith) who came in riding a win streak of her own. Six And Stones traveled unopposed through a first half that went in 59 seconds and checked in at three quarters in 1:28.1 while bracing for the challenge of pocket-popping Cantteachfast who rolled right by in the stretch to record a career-best win in 1:58.2. The filly’s win was her fifth in the last six starts. Six And Stones ran second while Greenhorn (Mickey McGivern) earned the show spot. The $15,000 race served as a “mini-series” Final. Jacob Cutting, the season’s breakout sulky star at the Spa, piloted three winners on the matinee card.
Live racing resumes on Sunday at Saratoga with a first post time of 12pm.
