Brett is a fourth-generation harness horseman, with parents Mark and Melissa, and grandparents and great-grandparents on both sides of his family all being involved in harness racing.

Brett started driving in harness races at Saratoga Casino Hotel in 2020 when he was just 18 years old. In 2021, he won the SCH/SHHA Johnny Page Driver Breakthrough award.

At 20 years old, Brett was one of the youngest drivers in North America to earn $4 in purses in a single season. At 22 years old, he became the youngest driver in history to score 2,000 lifetime driving wins.

In 2025 Brett represented the United States at the World Driving Championship in New Zealand. He was the leading driver at SCH in 2024 and finished 2nd in the driver standings at SCH in 2025.
