Executive Chef, Shawn Nash is many things… a father, teacher, volunteer, leader… even a coffee connoisseur of sorts.
Born and raised in Neptune, NJ, Shawn’s earliest culinary memory is of when he picked-up his first job, baking doughnuts. Today, he enjoys baking all sorts of treats here on property. (Try a slice of one of his homemade cheesecakes, an Italian pastry or yummy cookie on your next trip!)
Chef Nash comes to Saratoga Springs having most recently served as the Executive Chef at the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel in Eatontown, NJ. While in this role, he also served as a food preparation and cooking sanitation instructor for local high school and college students. Billy Hahn, a past cooking instructor of Chef Nash, ingrained in him that when it comes to cooking, there is nothing more important than quality and accountability.
“I think that real life experience is very important,” explains Chef Nash. “What better lesson is there than to have real successes, and especially real failures to learn from.”
Throughout his career, Chef Nash has upheld a high standard, demanding excellence right from the beginning with food preparation all the way through to service. Leading by example, he expects only the best from his students and team members.
“Food should make people happy and should enhance their overall experience,” describes Chef Nash. “With this goal in mind, the best way to give our customers what they want, is to ask. I look forward to interacting with our guests on a regular basis to make sure we are meeting that goal.”
Although very busy, in his extracurricular he enjoys cooking with his two daughters, hitting the gym, reading a variety of cook books, listening to jazz/R&B music and of course… grabbing a hot cup of joe.
