Slugfest & Jay Randall 

Slugfest prevailed in the $17,000 Open Trot for the second consecutive Sunday afternoon at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. The Maureen Salino-trained five year old started out the year as the dominant force in the trotting feature and after an up-and-down summer, it finishing out his season in style. Sunday’s win for Slugfest (Conway Hall) was his third straight win and tenth in the 2014 campaign. Jay Randall piloted Slugfest to the first over win in 1:57.3. Hldontghttoyurdrms (Frank Coppola Jr) was the runner up in the Sunday feature while the race’s favorite Traverse Seelster (Billy Dobson) had to settle for third. Slugfest was announced this week as one of four nominees for Aged Trotter and Trotter of the Year at Saratoga.

Live racing resumes on Thursday night with first post time set for 6:45pm.
