                                                                Stephane Bouchard & Keltic Dragon

The first installment of Thursday racing for the year at Saratoga Casino and Raceway was dominated by driver Stephane Bouchard. The veteran reinsman had his best night since coming to town on a semi-full time basis last year and Bouchard did it without the benefit of piloting too many favorites. Only Franklin Vandercam was the public’s choice amongst the Bouchard winners on Thursday. The 45 year old Canadian native steered two 10-1 shots, Mystical Terror and Nutmegs Taxi, to victories and none of Funny Lena, Keltic Dragon and Spring Lake Rebel were heavily backed by the public on the thirteen race card. Bouchard joined Jim Morrill Jr as the only drivers to pilot six winners on a single card in the 2012 season at the Spa to date. Interestingly, all six of Bouchard’s Thursday winners came from off the pace. The big evening vaulted Bouchard from fourth into second in the driver standings on the season, though he is still well behind Billy Dobson’s ’12 win tally.

Live racing continues on Friday evening with a first post time set for 7:05pm.
