Jose Luis Godinez got his start in racing back in 2003, working for Steve Crevani in Bullville, NY. He also worked for trainers Ed Hart, Paul Blumenfeld and Tom Guido. Jose had his first training win at Saratoga in 2010 with Tradin Paint. 

Jose states one of his career high points was when Panfromnantucket achieved a lifetime mark of 1:51.4 at Saratoga in 2012. Jose lists his favorite horses as Panfromnantucket and Shortest Distance. In addition to racing at Saratoga, Jose has raced at Yonkers, Monticello and Pocono. 

When he isn't racing, Jose enjoys soccer, fishing and hunting. He married Marissa Raymond in 2010 and became a US Citizen in 2012.  

Jose was the trainer of Elodie, who was voted 2013 Filly & Mare Claiming Pacer of the Year ($15,000 - $25,000), and Johnny Grippa, who was voted 2013 Claiming Pacer of the Year ($5,000 - $10,000). 

Jose finished 6th in the overall trainer standings at Saratoga Harness in 2014. He trained Shortest Distance, who was voted 2014 Filly & Mare Claiming Pacer of the Year ($10,000 and above), and Clooney Drummond who earned the award for 2014 Claiming Pacer of the Year ($12,500 - $15,000).
