Cindy studied Animal Science at Cobleskill Ag & Tech, graduating in 1978 and working that summer as a groom at Saratoga Raceway. Over the next six years, Cindy learned the horse business at Blue Bonnets ( Canada) and at Vernon Downs before training for herself in 1984.

Cindy brought her stable to Saratoga in 1986. A year later Milano was voted 1987 Horsewoman of the Year (an honor she would reap again in 1988, 1990 and 2004. Flawless Diamond won Claiming Trotter of the Year in 1990 and Riverofglory, another trained by Cindy, won Aged Trotter of the Year (1:59.2) in 2004.

Riverofglory went on to establish track records for aged trotter in the following classes:  8yr mare (1:58.2-2005), 11-yr mare (2:00.2-2008), 12-yr mare (1:58.3-2009), 13-yr mare (1:58.3-2010) and 14-yr mare (1:59.0-2011) and she retired December 11, 2011 in the 14-year-old Retirees March to the winner circle.
