EVERYONE IS A WINNER: "GIVE & TAKE BLOOD DRIVE" AT SARATOGA CASINO AND RACEWAY

Saratoga Springs, NY (January 7, 2012): Saratoga Casino and Raceway and the American Red Cross are teaming up to sponsor a blood drive on Monday, January 23 from noon to 6 p.m. inside Vapor Night Club. The goal of the blood drive is to collect 120 units of blood, helping to save up to 360 lives.
 
"This is one of the many opportunities for us to help the community that can go beyond donations of money and volunteerism.  Donating blood saves lives," said Jamie Hartman, a regular blood donor and Executive Vice President and COO of Saratoga Casino and Raceway. "We look forward to hosting the blood drive with our friends from the Red Cross every year."
 
The yearly "Give & Take Blood Drive" spotlights how giving blood can truly help save a life.  Jamie Hartman is pictured below with Nikki Kirby and her mother, Gail.  At seven days old, Nikki received blood transfusions that saved her life after a brain hemorrhage and virus due to complications from birth.  The transfusions immediately improved Nikki’s condition and allowed Gail to hold her baby for the first time in days.

As a special treat for donors, for the fifth year in a row, Dunkin’ Donuts and the American Red Cross have come together to present "Give a Pint, Get a Pound" campaign. This provides a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee* to all present donors at Red Cross blood drives in New York during the month of January, including the one at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
 
This blood drive is open to the public, and donors must be at least 18 years old. To make an appointment to donate blood at this drive, or for more information about donating blood,call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org.

The American Red Cross has been a primary supplier of lifesaving blood products in the United States for more than 50 years. The Red Cross Blood Services - Northeast Division must distribute approximately 3,000 units of blood each day just to meet the basic needs of area patients.
